On the first two weekends of Advent, the Gosau Mountain Christmas shines in a unique atmosphere around the local history museum. Living traditions and Alpine Christmas romance make this market something very special. On 8 December, tradition meets world heritage when the Christmas market in Hallstatt lights up the historic market square with festive splendour. Lovingly decorated stalls invite you to stroll around and enjoy yourself – in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The finest craftsmanship takes centre stage at the Meisteradvent in the Hand.Werk.Haus Salzkammergut in Bad Goisern. On 13 and 14 December, local artisans present their masterful work – accompanied by a cosy Advent atmosphere. At the same time, the Goiserer Adventroas invites you to linger in the atmospheric market square with music and regional delicacies. A special custom awaits you on 28 December in Obertraun: the burning of the old year begins at 6 p.m. with a torchlight hike through the winter forest to Lake Hallstatt. There, the old year is bid farewell with blazing fires and musical accompaniment. Don't miss: Mill Advent at the Anzenaumühle Experience Museum – spread the Christmas spirit on the weekend before the first Sunday in Advent with a small, contemplative Advent market featuring handicrafts and culinary delicacies.
