Summer
Since the beginnings of summer retreats painters, writers and composers have been attracted by the beautiful nature of the Salzkammergut area. A special place – geographically and culinary - is Hotel Post in Traunkirchen.
Hotel Post in Traunkirchen can look back on a long and eventful history. Already in the 16th century the house served as court taverna of the neighbouring cloister. Ever since then it has been closely connected with the cloister and has also developed a fondness for culinary top achievements.
Especially regional specialties with seasonal focus appeal to the team around Gröller family. On the menu you can thus find freshly-caught Traunsee fish as well as baked goat’s cheese or glazed lamb’s liver in marjoram juice. Of course they do their best to purchase produce from local farmers and fishers.
At Hotel Post there are several restaurants for guests. For a decent à-la-carte meal we recommend visiting Poststube restaurant. For an aperitif or a drink one traditionally meets at the fireplace room. If you fancy celebrating a small family party, Schönberg room or Traunstein room hold up to 80 persons.
A special place is the nice beer garden in the shade of historically-important Johannesberg Mountain. The fantastic view of Traunsee Lake combined with excellent food gives an ideal why the Romans called it “lacus felix”.
