The starting point of this tour is the Tourist Information Center in Mondsee, we ride through the town center, past the collegiate church into the Herzog-Odilo-Straße and turn right at the first opportunity as we exit the town, in the direction of Mondseeberg. A steep asphalt road now leads 3,5 km uphill and opens up to beautiful views of the Schafberg and Dachstein.
On a rounded hilltop shortly after the second lay-by for sightseeing we turn right (green signposts for the mountain bike track - Mondseeeland I + II) and continue on the asphalt uphill to the beginning of Almplatzlstraße, the road in the national forest. Continuing on the gravel, after approximately 8 km we now reach the highest point on the tour (900 m) and turn left into Schauerwaldstraße, along which one can vary the route of the tour (Mountain bike track Mondseeland II, ca. 17 km).
The main route leads straight on, mainly through the forest now until it reaches a fork, where we turn left for the descent into the valley of Ruezingbach . We then reach a couple of farms near Grossenschwand, we continue to keep left in the direction of the road and finally turn left onto a tractor road. We ride through the small cluster of houses of Powang, round a left hand bend and thereafter come to a left turn into the valley of Spranzelbach.
At first just a gentle incline upwards, we follow the forest road and then turn left at the fork in the road uphill onto Spranzlbachleitenstraße. A steep ascent leads to the fork with Schauerwaldstraße, where the shorter variant of the tour meets up with the main route.
Here we stick to the right hand and lower forest road, which brings us at first along flat terrain and then on a descent back to the national road, on which we turn left to a 3.5K long descent to Mondsee. We already know this area from the outward journey. We then reach our starting point.
