St. Lorenz – Mondseeland

The tourist area around the Salzkammergut Lakes of Mondsee and Irrsee offers some particularly attractive scenery.
As this part of the Salzkammergut is fairly flat terrain, it is particularly well-suited to runners.

Laufen am Mondsee

There are any number of opportunities for runners. You can look forward to lightly frequented, asphalted lanes, that pass solitary farmsteads, taking you through romantic forests, and revealing stunning views.

But what's most special about the area is its amazing, and healthy fauna and flora. This is all too rare a treat nowadays – but a major part of our natural heritage in Mondsee country.

For example:

Schwarzindien:

Your starting point is the public baths at St. Lorenz (in the Schwarzindien residential area, in the village of St. Lorenz, Mondsee)
From there, run through the Schwarzindien residential area, and past St. Lorenz church to the Gasthof Drachenwand. Then turn right along the Drachenwand to the lane in the direction of Gassen, back in south-easterly direction along the former railway line of the local Salzkammergut railway. The whole trail is extremely flat, partly asphalt or natural footing.
