Generally speaking places of happiness are unique places that are frequented to promote the development on an inner sensitivity and to boost self-discovery.

Culture areas:	Cultural and Sacred Places: Nowadays sacred places often feature Christian monuments like churches, monasteries, chapels or wayside shrines. Christians often used places that have been used for special or holy ceremonies by older cultures. Monasteries or churches for example have often been built on the ruins of Roman foundations. That way the knowledge about the power of some places has been continuously handed on and has been used for the building of monuments.
Legend areas:	Mythical Places: Nowadays mostly old people know about mythical places. They again have been told exciting and creepy stories by their ancestors. When we visit such places it is initially not easy to perceive what is special about them. Not until we learn about these old stories, our fantasy is stimulated and we can perceive the power and mysticism of these mythical places.
Nature experience:	Nature Places: On such places we can almost always experience visually exceptional landscapes. Impressive trees, a fascinating course of a river or a moving view are features of a nature place. On nature places it is also recommended to observe the interplay of the four elements – air, earth, fire and water. Whenever we perceive the elements as well-balanced a special harmony is induced.

These places support the journey to the self. Places of hapiness are places that evoke a special harmony in us, stir up pleasant memories, create pleasant feelings, induce joy,…or places, that have significantly altered the path of life. The positive and negative must be accepted – everything that happens is good! The path to a happy life and to a higher consciousness often leads past seemingly negative experiences. Places of happiness are also perfect for saying good-bye to influences that sabotage our luck (fears, dissatisfaction, negative persons, negative influences of all kind…) with rituals.

There are many places of happiness in the Salzkammergut area. A group of sensitive persons that have dealt with the fascination of the Salzkammergut for many years has selected and documented numerous places.

Places of happiness have been arranged in nature places, mythical places and sacred places. A team of experts featuring geomancy experts, scientists, philosophers, forest pedagogues, sensitive tourism service providers, etc. have selected the places.

At the moment 212 places of happiness are listed.

What can guests of the Salzkammergut area actually do at a place of happiness?

Basically yes, but the opinion of scientists is not yet clear.

• Was ist ein Glücksplatz?
Generell verstehen wir unter Glücksplätze jene einzigartigen Plätze, die zur Entfaltung der inneren Sensibilität und zur Selbstfindung aufgesucht werden.
Es sind also Plätze, wo wir eine Berührung unserer Seele erfahren – unter dem Motto ‚hier geht es mir unter die Haut’

• Welche Kriterien müssen vorhanden sein, damit ein Ort zu einem Glücksplatz ernannt wird?
Die Glücksplätze wurden in die Bereiche Naturplätze, Sagenplätze und sakrale Plätze eingeteilt. Ein Expertenteam bestehend aus Geomanten, Naturwissenschaftlern, Philosophen, Waldpädagogen, sensiblen Touristikern, etc. hat die Auswahl getroffen.

• Wo und wieviele Glücksplätze gibt es im Salzkammergut?
Vorerst wurden 212 Glücksplätze aufgereiht.

• Was kann ein Gast im Salzkammergut mit einem Glücksplatz anfangen – was mache ich da?
Glücksplätze dienen der Reise zu sich selbst. Glücksplätze sind Plätze, die besondere Harmonie in uns hervor rufen, angenehme Erinnerungen wecken, wohltuende Gefühle entstehen, Freude spüren lassen, ... oder Plätze, die Lebenswege markant verändert haben. In den Tourismusbüros des Salzkammergutes gibt es Informationen zu den und über die Glücksplätze sowie im Wanderatlas Salzkammergut vom Verlag Schubert & Franzke.

• Wie werden die Glücksplätze touristisch angeboten - gibt es Packages dazu? Manche Tourismusverbände haben bereits Packages entwickelt. Die Gäste finden aber mit dem richtigen Kartenmaterial die Glücksplätze selbst.

• Sind die Glücksplätze einheitlich gekennzeichnet?
Das Kleeblattsymbol ist die einheitliche Kennzeichnung.

• Gibt es Führungen zu den jeweiligen Glücksplätzen?
In manchen Tourismusdestinationen sind bereits ausgebildete Führer vorhanden bzw. es werden Führer genannt.

• Wie wirken diese Orte auf den Besucher?
Glücksplätze eignen sich perfekt dafür Glückssaboteure (Ängste, Unzufriedenheit, negativ geladene Menschen, negative Einflüsse unterschiedlichster Form) zu verabschieden. ( Die innere Einstellung des Besuchers entscheidet wie Glücksplätze vorerst aufgenommen und empfunden werden. Auch positive und negative Gefühle sind anzunehmen und wir Menschen haben mit diesen zu arbeiten. )
Grundsätzlich sollen sich positiv gestimmte Menschen an diesen Plätzen noch wohler und glücklicher fühlen.

Die spezielle Bezeichnung der drei Kategorien von Glücksplätzen ist im Expertenteam 2004 entstanden.

Der persönliche Wunsch des Expertenteams Menschen, Besonderheiten auf sensible Art näher zu bringen und diesen eine Anregung zu mehr Lebensqualität zu geben.

• Werden hierfür spezielle Wanderungen angeboten?

• Gibt es diese Kraftplätze nur im Salzkammergut oder werden diese auch in anderen Gebieten Österreichs so hervorgehoben?
Dieser Begriff und diese Definition wurde einzigartig für das Salzkammergut entwickelt.

• Gibt es wissenschaftlich fundierte Messmethoden, welche die positiven Auswirkungen auf die Menschen an diesen Plätzen belegt?
Grundsätzlich ja, jedoch ist die Meinung der Wissenschaftler noch nicht eindeutig.

• Gibt es im Salzkammergut - in Vergleich zu anderen Regionen - eine besondere Häufung dieser Art von Plätzen, wenn ja - warum?
Die Erklärungen sind vielfältig und können geomantisch, historisch und landschaftsharmonisch interpretiert werden.
