The name “Grünau” (green pastures) fits perfectly as green dominates the landscape. The name has a deeper meaning though.

Jakob Grimm thought that the “green pastures” were sanctuaries of the Germanic goddess Berchta. The Berchten Cult was celebrated in Austria, the Berchten nights are the Twelve Nights.

And there were the damsels of the mountain, who mostly lived at Kasberg Mountain. They hung up their snow-white laundry and disappeared, leaving a scent of roses behind, whenever an unappointed person came near.
