
The unique clear and excellent water quality and its fish richness
distinguish the Wolfgang lake as a fishermans´ eldorado. Also the presence of perl fish - wich is threatened by extinction - stands for the quality of the water.
The 12.8 square kilometers large Wolfgang lake, also called Abersee, is because of the constriction from the Zinkenbach and the Dittlbach, divided in two basins. Before St. Wolfgang, the lake is only 20 meters deep.
The St. Gilgener basin is the bigger one and achieves the largest depth with 114 meters. The smaller one in Strobl reaches just 67 meters.

The second part Ried till Gschwand reaches from the southeast - the Zinkenbach, in the northeast the Dittelbachmuendung, in the northwest the Ferienhort and in the southwest to the hotel Gamsjaga.
The season starts with Februar 25 till October 31. From February till April and in September and October you can fish from 06:00 am till 07:00 pm. From May till August its allowed to fish from 05:00 am till 10:00 pm.

Daily catch:
For each licensees and fishing-day, you are allowed to quote seal fish and six fishes, including a Seeforelle.
Fishing tackles:
Max. two fishing tackels, á one fishhook or three peaces Nymphs for Seesaibling and Renke/Maräne.
You are not allowed to use one more fishing tackels to fish seal-fishes. A tape measure, pliers for loose, fishing net are absolutly necessary to carry with you!!
Children:
For children under twelve years it is allowed to fish with an adult if he has a licence. Rank fish caught by the child among to the daily catch from of the licensee. Per daily licence you are allowed, including the child, to fish with two fishing rods.
Bait:
All legal artificial- and naturalbaits are allowed for fishing, the use of living vertebrate animals (seal fish) as bait is forbidden.
The thired area of fishing, the upper, northwest-part of the lake Wolfgang, reaches from Gasthof Gamsjaga, to the beginning of the Falkenstein till St. Gilgen.
A day-licence for this part costs EUR 16.00 or a weekly-season licence EUR 50.00; for night-fishing the price is EUR 15.00, for seasonal EUR 170.00

Conditions:
* The general fishing season lasts from May 10 – October 31.
* A maximum of two fishing rods with three fishhooks or baits each (free choice of bait, but no living vertebrates).
* It is not allowed to bring or use an echo sounder.
* Spin fishing, trolling, sports fishing and fly fishing are allowed.
* Fishing is allowed from sunrise to sunset.
* Fishing is not allowed along or near (150m) the shore section from Ferienhort Lueg to Gasthof Gamsjaga from September 15 onwards (spawning area).
* Seasonal tickets are only valid with an official tax card and entitle also to night fishing. Fishing of arctic char is not allowed though.
* A maximum of 4 whitefish and 1 trout may be taken per day.
* With night passes (valid from 9.00 p.m. to 5.00 a.m. only eel, burbot and various whitefish can be fished.
* Pass rates include provincial and fishing taxes.
* Please note that enclosed grounds may only be entered with the permission of the owner.
* Because of a trout project it is not allowed to fish in the area of brook mouths (radius of 50m). Fishing is also forbidden in Fürbergbucht bay from the moorings to the boat house.(sanctuary)
