| Diving places: | Steeg to Öfen, Gossaumühle, Pfaffenpfühl, Zauner, Kessel bathing area, Landbettler bathing area Of particular interest: Throughout the whole year in the area of the source visibility ranges from a possible 5 to 20 m. In front of the boat mooring at Lerchenbach an American Jeep lies 42 m below the water surface. Numerous car wrecks, steep faces and the ‘Mun-Halde’ are highlights. |

The Hallstatt Lake is certainly one of the classic stretches of water for diving in the Salzkammergut and together with its impressive surroundings is certainly worth a holiday visit or an excursion. The water, relatively full with fish however frequently dark, lends itself, together with the occasionally lush vegetation, a unique elegance.
In cold winters the lake freezes up completely, which has led to much ice diving activity in front of the diving school fence.
