Almsee

It lies at the foot of the majestically enthroned Totes Gebirge range and reflects a dazzlingly colorful mirror image of this beautiful mountain backdrop: The Almsee Lake.

It’s for good reason that the region around the Almsee Lake was declared a nature preserve. The lake can certainly rejoice in its reputation as one of the few mountain lakes that has remained unscathed by heavy development and lakeshore crowding.

Even today, the Almsee, with its unique “floating island” feature (which a few years ago was pushed onshore by flood waters) and its fascinating animal and plant life, has endured as an absolute jewel of the Alps.
