Waterskiing at Lake Traunsee

From May to October Traunsee Lake is one of the best kite areas in Austria. Our kite school is located in Rindbach/Ebensee, the absolutely best spot at the lake.

The Facts

Schools: Kiteschule Rindbach
Offenseestrasse 59
4802 Ebensee
Tel: +43 (0)699 14612666
E-Mail: info@kiteschule.at
www.kiteschule.at

The Kite school offers lessons for beginners and less experienced kiters.

Lessons take place in our private kite bay. Lessons for advanced kiters are taught from the boat. That way we can teach you how to kite in a safe way.
Specials:
Rindbach offers perfect conditions. Directly at the spot is a campsite and at Tony’s Windbar you can enjoy a bite to eat and relax after a kite session – often into the early hours.

Traunsee is often referred to as “little Lake Garda”. Similar to Vento and Ora, there is “Oberwind” (a wind from the south) in the mornings and “Niederwind” (a north-eastern thermal wind) from noon to about 4.00 p.m.
Kite sail sizes 12m – 20m

The wind at Traunsee Lake is relatively constant, and thanks to the thermal wind it is a good weather kite spot! In the area of the Traun mouth the wind is more forceful; this area is standing area and perfect for exercising new manoeuvres and jumps.

One of the two winds is always present in a constant high weather period. So Traunsee Lake has saved many bleak, windless weekends in high summer.

The so-called “Oberwind” blows mostly from 5.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. in Traunkirchen; “Niederwind” in Ebensee at the surf spot in Rindbach is generally active from 11.00 a.m. – 4.00 p.m.

Best conditions for “Oberwind”:
When a cold weather period retreats, generally a southern wind appears and disperses the clouds. The second half of the night should be starry for good “Oberwind” conditions to appear.

”Niederwind”:
During stable high-weather periods with slight eastern wind “Niederwind” appears almost daily.
Approx. 12-18 knots (22 – 26km/h).
