Traditional “Almabtrieb”

The farmers celebrate thanksgiving in honor of the summer which has passed well on the alp. The festively decorated cattle are brought down from the mountain pastures into the stables – this year there is also a fair with rural delicacies, old crafts and customs from October 1, until October 3, 2010 in St. Wolfgang-Rußbach

October 1, 2010
07:00 p.m.:* Opening of the “Almabtrieb” (bringing down the cattle from the mountains) weekend at the „Brauchtumsstadl“ at the „Branntweinhäusl“ in St. Wolfgang-Rußbach. Augustiner-draught beer-launch with mayor Johannes Peinsteiner
08:00 p.m.: "Goodbye beautiful pasture”- with ORF host Franz Gillesberger and the Innergebierg Viergesang from Salzburg, den Stoaberger singers from Berchtesgaden and the Bläserquartett from St. Wolfgang.

October 2, 2010
from 11:00 a.m.: *Almabtrieb brass players of the local and farmers music group with “Almschmankerl“, culinary delicacies from the region of Rußbach-Stampf
from 11:30 a.m.:* Procession around the alp life
from 12:00 p.m.:* Arrival of the decorated herd
Alp-fair * children’s programme
* traditional alp games for young and old
* Augustiner festive beer
from 01:00 p.m.* Kirtag-dance floor with the traditional band “D’Wolfganga” as well as the children’s dance group „D’Wolfganga”.
from 03.00 p.m.:* Music and entertainment with the Pernecker Klarinettenmusi
from 08.00 p.m.:* The night in traditional costume at the "Brauchtumsstadl" Free admisson!




October 3, 2010
from 09:00 a.m.:* Assembly of the societies with the thanksgiving crown in the centre of St. Wolfgang, followed by the parade into the parish church
09:30 a.m.:* Mass regarding thanksgiving at the parish church of St. Wolfgang
from 11:00 a.m.:* Festive brunch at the „Brauchtumsstadl“ at the restaurant Branntweinhäusl in St. Wolfgang-Rußbach, with the Wolfganger Trachtenmusi and the Solinger Bauernkapelle
* delicacies from the rural cuisine
