This colourful late- summer celebration has been drawing in the crowds to Bad Goisern for many years. The event which takes place during the last weekend in August is always popular with those who love joining in with local customs as well as folk music. In keeping with tradition, the Gamsbart Olympics will be held again this year ..........
* A "Gamsbart" is a tuft of hair from the back of a chamoix which is traditionally worn as a hat decoration.
The arrival of the Chamoix Hunting Days in August is a sign that summer is gradually drawing to an end. The people of Bad Goisern, together with many visitors, mark this with a weekend event which has grown over the years into a truly special occasion.
This year has an unusual highlight - the Gamsbart Olympics which takes place once every four years. The longest and most beautiful chamoix, deer and badger "beards" win prizes.
Event highlights again this year:
* "Lord of the Gams"
* "Gams Trophy"
* Fun and games for children at the "Gamskitztreffen"
* Bird Whistling European Championships
* and lots, lots more .........
